From 1997 to 2005 I worked on consulting projects for the following Consulting and Engineering Services Firms
Provided consulting and support services to clients implementing SAP-PM.
Provided technical direction to teams of subject matter experts responsible for building SAP-PM master data from P&ID’s, equipment data sheets, equipment manuals, and other sources.
Data objects developed include the functional location and equipment hierarchy, bills of materials, maintenance task lists and maintenance plans.
Interfaced with client personnel and maintained cohesiveness of approach among the different people working on projects.
Advised clients to use material bills of material and maintenance assemblies instead of equipment bills of material, where appropriate.
Developed methods to create this data with minimal effort. This reduced client’s long-term cost of maintaining BOM data.
Applied client-specific maintenance strategies in a manner that would ensure that the right maintenance was performed at the right time, and with minimal equipment shutdowns.
Developed reports for master data build project metrics in Crystal Report Writer and MS-Access.
Developed quality assurance reports that discovered possible problems with master data.
Advised clients on IMG configuration settings and other matters to enable more effective SAP utilization for work management and reporting.
Designed/developed computer programs required to convert historical work orders in a custom legacy system for upload into Maximo.
Worked on a client team to develop strategies for migrating warehouse data from a legacy system to an integrated Maximo – PeopleSoft environment.
2000 – 2001 SAP PM Implementation Consultant IBM Global Services
Assisted with upgrading IBM intellectual capital from SAP 3.1H to 4.6B.
Provided consulting services to the U.S. Navy in the area of Naval Ship Maintenance.
Assisted with workshops to map existing business processes, then develop re-engineered business processes.
Guided discussions to help users see beyond current business practices so that they could develop streamlined processes to be implemented in SAP.
Analyzed existing engineering design standards to develop structure indicators for SAP Functional Locations.
Result was that all naval ships will be described using only one structure indicator.
Developed methodology to convert a legacy database containing seven million equipment records into functional location and equipment records in SAP.
Worked with data owners to develop technical specifications for required data conversion programs.
Assisted client personnel responsible for developing integrated test scenarios in understanding how to map the business requirements in these scenarios to SAP functionality.
Operational Services, Inc.
Houston, TX 77018
Provided consulting services and direct assistance to clients during implementation of SAP and other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Developed database applications as tools for data collection and formatting.
Assisted management in developing project proposals for potential clients.
Developed functional design papers for SAP-PM on topics including technical objects, classification, maintenance processing, maintenance planning, and the Plant Maintenance Information System.
Configured SAP-PM to meet client business requirements, including integration point and client independent settings.
Documented all findings in IMG notes.
Specified data collection specifications and data formats for PM Master Data. This enabled a third-party contractor to Plant Maintenance master data in electronic formats suitable for importation into SAP.
Developed company-specific training materials for SAP-PM using SAP Information Database tools.
Conducted classroom training and provided individual help to English and Russian speaking users.
Developed role-based user profiles in collaboration with the security administrator. Tested these in conjunction with the end user to ensure that access rights and information objects were appropriate for each job role.
Designed user exits to improve the functionality of the PM module. One of these ensured that start/end times were entered in Maintenance Notifications when the Breakdown Indicator had been checked, improving the collection of RCM data.
Worked with SAP-OSS and ABAP/4 programmers to identify bugs then implement and test solutions.
Provided post go-live support by resolving SAP-PM utilization problems, fine-tuning the configuration as unforeseen requirements arose, and documenting priorities for future development.
